Carmen’s mission is preparing students for success in college. Through our College Transition and Post-Transition Programs, we are able to support our high school students AND alumni to and through college. Our College Team provides programming including college campus visits, college readiness lessons, Junior and Senior seminar, college fairs, college representative visits, parent workshops and newsletters, financial aid meetings and advising, as well as individual student meetings. The College Team programming culminates in our Senior Signing Day, for which all Carmen students, staff, and guests come together to celebrate the plans and accomplishments of the graduating class. Over 78% of the Class of 2023 graduates plan to enroll in college immediately following graduation. Of those enrolling, 71% are attending 4-year colleges and 27% are attending 2-year colleges. Last year, 75% of the Class of 2022 planned to enroll in college immediately following graduation; of these alumni, approximately 75% are attending 4-year colleges and 25% are attending 2-year colleges.
Our Post-Transition Team supports our seniors once they make their final college decision with their enrollment checklist (e.g., placement testing, housing deposits, verification, accepting financial aid, etc.). The Post-Transition Team support continues AFTER Carmen students graduate through the summer after senior year and continues with on-campus visits, electronic reminders/updates/support, in-person and virtual check-ins, FAFSA refiling, transfer and re-enrollment support.
